If you love Italian food as much as I do, this month’s supper club theme is for you! We are celebrating with a cozy Italian dinner party.
Italian food is so good, right?
Since I am Italian, I grew up eating it and making it almost all the time. Sunday sauce with meatballs is my specialty. But I also love to make this super easy baked shrimp scampi too. It’s straight from my grandmother’s vault of amazing Italian recipes.
Since there’s no shortage of good Italian food and beverage recipes out there, how should we decorate the table for an Italian-themed dinner party?
Here are 5 simple table decorations for your next Italian supper.

5 Simple Table Decorations for an Italian Dinner Party
While there’s no right or wrong way to set a table, there is an overarching theme to keep in mind where an Italian dinner party is concerned.
Abundance.
Italians enjoy abundant food and drink. We are passionate about our families. And we love a good time!
So setting the perfect table for an Italian dinner party should reflect abundance. But how?

Like many other cultures, an Italian dinner party connects friends and family over amazing food and drink.
So want to create a cozy, intimate atmosphere that feels both welcoming and homey because we want guests to linger and enjoy themselves.
We’ll be sharing Italian food and beverage ideas on Saturday.
So today, it’s all about setting a warm and welcoming table where guests can savor the food, drink, and stay awhile.

Simple Centerpiece Idea for the Dining Table: Italian Dinner Party Style
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know how much I love a beautiful centerpiece for the dining table.
This table centerpiece might not look so simple, but trust me…it is! Going with a rustic abundant aesthetic, I wanted to include an assortment of flowers and greenery with fresh fruits and vegetables with lots of organic textures.
To create this dining table centerpiece with an Italian aesthetic, I started with a short rectangular basket.
Using what I have on hand, I tucked in some faux plants and cabbage as the base. I then dashed to the kitchen to grab some fresh tomatoes, lemons, and peaches to add to the basket.
Of course, you can create this centerpiece with all fresh items. Or you can use all faux if you want to create something that will last a long time.
Since I have lots of faux flowers and greenery, I mixed fresh with faux to save a little money (and a trip) to the grocery store and it helps make the dining table centerpiece look more authentic.
What can I say, I love an easy arrangement!

Setting a Cozy Table for an Italian Themed Dinner Party
With the main centerpiece complete, let’s set the table. We’ll be adding more to the look to create a feeling of abundance, but first, let’s set the rest of the table.
Whenever I set a table, I focus on creating cozy layers in the design. Because layers of table decorations add texture, dimension, and lots of interest.
To start, I used this gorgeous light table runner to get a softer, elegant look. I prefer to keep my farmhouse table exposed, but if you love a pretty table cloth, go for it!

After draping the table runner, I added my main centerpiece in the middle of the dining table. Before completing the rest of my centerpiece idea, I set each place.
To start, I used some pretty jute chargers that are similar to these, and added simple gold chargers like these. On top of both chargers, I layered my favorite Lenox.
If you don’t have Lenox or other fine china, anything neutral will do. Between the dinner and salad plate, I added these linen napkins. And I used my grandmother’s vintage gold flatware like these.
To serve water and lots of wine, I used my gold-rimmed stemware with some vintage amber glassware. As an aside, don’t limit yourself to using only one type of dinnerware or stemware on the table. Tables are more interesting when you mix things up.
To complete the table settings, I topped off each with a cute faux white kalanchoe plant in a small terra cotta pot.
Entertaining Tip: instead of using faux, add a small live plant for guests to bring home as a take-home gift. Just make sure you offer a layer of protection between the plant and the plate so it doesn’t soil the dinnerware.

Add Some Flowers as Italian Decorations
Whether you go with fresh or faux, no Italian dinner party table is complete without some flowers.
Since we’ll be enjoying an abundant amount of wine and cheeses at my Italian dinner party, I recycled a few bottles of Flowers Pinot Noir and used them as a vase.
Doesn’t that look so pretty? I love this look!

Organic Elements Make Great Italian Dinner Party Table Decorations
After adding some flowers, I added organic table decorations to add some more texture and dimension.
To create a cozy, warm, and welcoming atmosphere, I added some faux fern sprigs, sedum flowers, and small potted boxwoods with fresh-cut oranges as part of my Italiann decorations.
So I mixed fresh and faux to achieve this look using what I have on hand. But you can easily pick up most of these items at the grocery store. And you can also purchase faux plants to keep and use long-term.

Italy Party Decor: Don’t Forget the Mood Lighting
What is cozier than an Italian dinner party by candlelight? My crystal chandelier does wonders for the dining room, doesn’t it? I love the glam and elegance it provides with my rustic decor.
We recently moved here and renovated the dining room by removing the upholstered walls and painting over the faux finish ceiling.

But that chandelier is one of the reasons we loved this house when we saw it. And it makes my heart sing every time I walk through this space!

In addition to my chandelier, I added lots of pretty candles. I used my vintage crystal candle holders with white taper candles.
Then tucked in THESE gold candle holders with more white taper candles. And added some pillar candles to get different heights of lighting.
As always, be careful where and how you burn candles. Keep them away from anything flammable and don’t leave them unattended when lit.
There are lots of great battery-operated flameless candles out there that look really pretty. I use them more often now because I can set them on a timer and they turn themselves on and off.
