I’ve been gardening for nearly 30 years, but for a long time, growing plants indoors was a completely different story.

Outside, I knew how to read the garden. I understood light, soil, water, and what plants needed to thrive. But bring a plant inside? Somehow, all that confidence seemed to disappear.

Here’s what I eventually realized: I wasn’t bad at houseplants. I needed to understand how growing indoors was different and learn how to apply the gardening skills I already had in a whole new environment.

Once I figured that out, everything changed. My houseplant collection grew, and plants became more than something I was trying to keep alive. They became part of how I decorated my home and another way to enjoy the gardening lifestyle I love throughout the year.

That’s what Filling Your Home With Life is about. I’ll help you understand what your houseplants need to thrive, build confidence growing them, and show you how to style them throughout your home so you can surround yourself with beautiful, living things in every season.

THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU IF…

  • You can grow a beautiful garden outside, but somehow houseplants are another story
  • You bring home plants you love without really knowing where they’ll thrive in your home
  • You’re never quite sure when to water, where to put them, or what they actually need
  • You’ve lost enough houseplants that you’ve started wondering if indoor gardening just isn’t your thing
  • You want to fill your home with plants, but aren’t sure how to style them so they feel intentional and part of the room
  • You love the way your garden makes your home feel and want to enjoy that same connection to plants all year long

If you know how good it feels to grow something outside, you can learn to do it inside, too.

MEET THE AUTHOR

I’m Stacy Ling, a trained master gardener, author, and creator of Bricks ’n Blooms. I’ve been gardening for nearly 30 years, and today I grow extensive flower gardens on 10 acres at our 1850 farmhouse in northern New Jersey. But here’s something you might not expect: for years, I was much better at growing plants outside than I was at keeping them alive inside.

I knew how to read my garden, work with the conditions I had, and give plants what they needed to thrive. Eventually, I realized those same principles mattered indoors too. I just needed to understand how to apply them in a completely different growing environment.

Once I did, everything changed. Today, I grow more than 100 houseplants and several plant collections throughout my home. And I’ve learned that growing them successfully is only part of the fun. Plants have also become one of my favorite ways to decorate, adding life, color, texture, and that garden-inspired feeling I love to every room.

Filling Your Home With Life brings those two sides of my world together: growing plants with confidence and using them to create a beautiful home that feels alive.

My work has been featured in Better Homes & Gardens, Architectural Digest, Fine Gardening, HGTV, People, and more, and I’ve appeared on Live with Kelly & Mark. But the experience behind this book comes from decades of growing, experimenting, making mistakes, and learning how to live surrounded by plants, both outside and in.
