How Do You Decorate a Dining Room Table For Fall?
When I’m not entertaining, at a minimum, I keep a seasonal centerpiece on the dining table. And that centerpiece design it what drives how I decorate the rest of the room for fall.
One of the first places to start is by choosing an autumn color palette for the dining room.
When I decorate for a particular season, I lean towards using faux greens and flowers in the arrangement so it is a set and forget approach to decorating.
I love a good fresh flower arrangement, but when decorating long term for a season, it’s easier to go with faux!
That said, in addition to the centerpiece, I add cozy layers to the table as well.
So using a tablecloth or table runner as the base is a great way to create cozy layers with interest, texture and dimension.
How to Make an Easy Fall Table Decor Idea
I love entertaining and dressing up my dining room table for guests.
No matter how big or small the event is, I love to design a beautiful centerpiece and set a gorgeous table that coordinates with it.
But it’s gotta be easy!
Here are some ideas to design a beautiful fall tablescape that will take minutes to create.
Simple Fall Centerpiece Idea for the Dining Room Table
Start with a vessel you love. For me, I am obsessed with my vintage toolbox. Because it looks incredible on my farmhouse dining table.
This toolbox has gone through many looks this year.
It started with this gorgeous Thanksgiving centerpiece idea.
Then I tweaked it to make this beautiful Christmas centerpiece idea.
After the holidays, the same toolbox transitioned to this amazing winter centerpiece idea for the dining table.
And then it transitioned to spring and summer with this dining table centerpiece idea.
It was a little more spring, but I kept it through summer because it was neutral, looked gorgeous and I loved it.
And now, this same toolbox has a new look for fall.
Doesn’t it look awesome? If you want to learn how to make this rustic fall dining table centerpiece, I shared a tutorial here.
I love how earthy and organic it looks with the artifical greenery, berry sprigs and pumpkins for fall!
Now that we designed our fall centerpiece, let’s set the dining room table.
Easy Fall Table Setting Idea
For this year’s fall table decor, I wanted to focus more on earthy neutrals and do something different from last year.
Instead of focusing on florals for this tablescape, I focused more on the greens and organic textures.
And I love how it turned out!
I love to keep my gorgeous wood farmhouse table exposed instead of covering it up with a table cloth.
To add some warmth, I layered this jute table runner underneath the vintage toolbox centerpiece.
I bought those cedar branch placemats a few years ago and haven’t been able to find them anywhere. You can easily swap them out for a boxwood wreath instead!
I found these gorgeous neutral fall green napkins at the Christmas Tree Shops a few weeks ago.
As an aside, that green is perfect and can be used in more than just fall.
And I topped off each place setting with these adorable pouches from Cutlery Couture.
For drinkware, I kept it simple with these mason jar glasses.
They are the best and I use them for more than just drinks!
Mason jars make beautiful vessels for fresh cut flowers like I this centerpiece idea I made for a summer dinner party.
