Welcome to My Rustic Farmhouse Spring Home Tour
As an avid gardener, I love to bring the outdoors in and decorate my rustic farmhouse home based on what’s going on outside.
Now that we are heading into spring, I am all about the greens, flowers, and organic elements.
Are you getting ready for the spring too?
I live in a quiet suburban neighborhood in northern New Jersey.
As you pull up to my home, you’ll be greeted by expansive gardens throughout the property.
We’ve lived here for nearly 23 years and I created, designed, and planted every one of these gardens myself.
My front yard cottage garden is my pride and joy.
I designed it to bloom all season long with lots of gorgeous flowers and pretty seasonal colors.
Let’s Spring Forward – Come On In!
When we renovated our home 15 years ago from a small, three bedroom ranch to a four bedroom center hall colonial, we wanted to have an open floor concept on the main floor.
It was a challenge, but we widened the doorways and made a half wall between the front entry and dining room.
If this is your first time here, this antique bench used to look SO DIFFERENT before I painted the upholstery fabric.
I was surprised how well it turned out and it was so easy and inexpensive to do!
My Rustic Farmhouse Kitchen
When you first walk into my home, the kitchen is one of the first rooms you see from the front entry hall. It is the hub of the home.
You can usually find me in here cooking something delicious.
I remodeled this kitchen by myself almost three years ago by painting the cabinets.
Looking back, I can’t believe I waited so long to do it.
If you are considering it, DO IT! I have no regrets and wish I did it sooner.
My favorite part of this DIY kitchen remodel is the range hood.
I refinished it with gel stain and it looks incredible!
The gel stain brought out all those wood details and it is a statement piece in the room.
It might be my favorite DIY to this day!
Because I have a small kitchen, we swapped out a kitchen table for this island.
When we remodeled, I bought these really comfy bar stools so we would linger longer as a family around the table.
We used to have saddle stools and we just didn’t hang out here for very long after meals.
Rustic Farmhouse Spring Home Decorating Ideas for the Dining Room
The dining room sits to the right of the front entry hall.
We love to entertain friends and family here.
Even when we are not entertaining, I always have a pretty spring centerpiece to decorate the table.
If you do nothing else to decorate, a festive centerpiece adds so much to the room. It’s one of my favorite things to create and makes me smile every time I walk by.
I am a huge fan of this vintage toolbox that I’ve been using as a centerpiece container for the last year.
It’s gone through so many different looks!
For the holidays, I went a little bolder with the reds and tucked in some red ball and Christmas present ornaments.
When we renovated our home 15 years ago, we bought this beautiful cabinet and hutch from one of the local shops here in town.
It is my favorite piece in our home and I love how it looks this spring!
Rustic Farmhouse Living Room Spring Home Decorating Ideas
To the left of the entry hall is our living room.
Since we do not have a formal living room, this is our family room where we love to hang out together.
I gave the living room a makeover 2 years ago and that coat of paint made a huge difference.
Wait until you see what it looked like before!
In addition to painting the living room with a lighter, brighter, and more neutral paint color, I also gave the piano a facelift.
It was so dark and dingy before that it weighed down the room.
You can see what it looked like before HERE.
The living room is the place where we gather as a family.
But it is also the room where most of my houseplants reside.
There are so many windows and it gets a lot of light.
My family thinks I might have an issue with having too many plants.
But I’m thinking, you can never have too many. Amirite?
Rustic Farmhouse Laundry Room in Spring
We recently remodeled the laundry room.
It is a small laundry room and is a pass-through space from the living room to the bathroom.
But I love how it turned out don’t you?
I love decorating it for spring!
And the finish on the shelves and countertop is the same gel stain finish that I used on my hood vent in the kitchen.
Rustic Farmhouse Bathroom in Spring
When we updated the laundry room, we also renovated the bathroom too. We shiplapped the walls in both rooms.
I love how the bathroom turned out!
Here is what it looks like this spring!
I still need to get a window treatment for this room.
It is one of the many things on my list of things to do this spring!
