In the Gardens

Changes are coming! I’ve decided to remove all of the rudbeckia by my front porch. It’s iconic here for fall, I know, but it does not perform well and has been taking over the space. Don’t get me wrong, it blooms like crazy! But I have to spend time supporting it to keep the plant from flopping over onto my walkway, it has far exceeded it’s territory, and the garden itself wasn’t planted with design in mind.

Instead, I am preparing to plant Hydrangea Let’s Dance Sky View under the buckeye tree, add Gatsby Pink Oak Leaf Hydrangea, Bobo Hydrangeas, Green Mountain Boxwoods, and move a few plants around. The plantings will be small but within two years will really fill in.

I’ve decided to keep the periwinkle groundcover for the time being so there is a little less weeding to do. And I am removing the nandina by my front porch door. It has never made sense to me, doesn’t look good, and I want to plant small evergreens in it’s place.

I’ve wanted to change this garden up since we moved here. And now, I am finally doing it.

Another Snip ‘n Sip

I hosted another snip ‘n sip with some family to make bouquets for a bridal shower. My nephew is getting married and his fiancee’s shower is today! So I offered to host my sister-in-law, our daughters her son and his fiancee over to snap some pics in the gardens and make bouquets for this momentous occasion. It was so fun and the bouquets look amazing!!!!

Garden Planning

While I am working in the beds, I cannot tell you how many mental notes I am making that I will 100% forget if I don’t write them all down. This is a great time to jot things down in my garden planner! Did you get yours yet? If not…I strongly recommend snagging a copy here. Not just because I wrote it but rather because your future 2026 garden will thank you later.

Houseplant Styling for 2025-2026

As I am almost done bringing all of my houseplants indoors (there are a few left but they are pretty tough and can take the cooler nights), I’ve been focusing more on plant-styling my indoor spaces.

If you’ve been following along our journey since moving here, the changes are really epic! I’m going to share some recent photos here with all of my houseplants. And a full before and after bedroom renovation blog is coming!!! I am almost done styling the space and wow what a difference a coat of paint makes.

Today, I’m going to bring you through my sunroom so you can see how many plants I’ve been collecting. This is not my entire collection but I have almost half in this space alone.
