How to Make Blondie Brownies Recipe (Easy & Chewy)
If you’ve been looking for the perfect sweet treat that is easy to make and different from the usual go-to desserts, look no further than this recipe for blondie brownies. It combines the rich, chewy texture of brownies with a tasty vanilla flavor.
I make my recipe with butterscotch chip, but you can easily swap them out for chopped walnuts too. Enjoy them warm with ice cream or savor them plain – they’re delicious any way you slice them!
Ingredients
- 6 Tbsp Butter Softened
- 1 Cup Packed Brown Sugar
- 2 Large Eggs, Room Temperature
- 1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1-1/4 cup All-Purpose Flower
- 1 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/2 Tsp Salt
- 1 Cup Semisweet Chocolate Chips
- 1/2 cup Butterscotch chips
Directions for Making Blondie Brownies
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 11×7 inch baking pan with parchment paper or non-stick cooking spray for easy removal.
- In a large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy – about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the eggs, one at a time. Beat well after each addition.
- Beat in the vanilla.
- Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl then gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in the chocolate and butterscotch chips. Be careful not to overmix because this can make your blondies tough.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan and then bake for about 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs. The edges should be golden brown
- Let the blondies cool completely in the pan before cutting them into squares because it will help them set up properly and keep them from falling apart.
Blondies Recipe Tips and Variations
If you want to change things up with this recipe, it is very tweakable. Here are a few ways you can level it up to suit your own preferences.
- For extra chewy blondies, bake them for a minute or two less.
- Don’t overbake! These blondies should be golden brown on the edges but still soft in the center.
- Let the blondies cool completely before cutting them for clean and beautiful squares.
- Craving a peanut butter twist? Add 1/2 cup of creamy peanut butter to the batter along with the white chocolate chips.
- Want a fruity twist? Substitute chopped dried cranberries or cherries for the white chocolate chips.
Storage and Serving Suggestions
Store leftover blondies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2-3 days. They are delicious and enjoyed warm with a scoop of ice cream or a sprinkle of powdered sugar.
Blondies Brownies Recipe FAQ
Sometimes we run into some issues when making blondie brownies or have a few general inquiries. Here are some answers to the most frequently asked questions.
Are blondies meant to be gooey in the middle?
No. Gooey brownies in the middle means they need to cook a little longer. Pop them back in the oven for a few more minutes or bake them for longer next time.
What is the difference between a blondie and a brownie?
Though both blondies and brownies are delicious bar cookies with chewy textures, they take different paths to get there. Blondies, like their name suggests, skip the cocoa powder for a golden hue and a sweet, vanilla-caramel flavor thanks to brown sugar. Brownies, on the other hand, get their rich chocolate taste from cocoa powder and often have a denser texture.
