Farmhouse Style Christmas
Farmhouse style Christmas decor brings a cozy, nostalgic charm to holiday celebrations. This timeless aesthetic combines rustic elements like reclaimed wood, natural greenery, and vintage accents to create a warm, inviting atmosphere.
Embracing simplicity and a touch of elegance, farmhouse Christmas decor often includes handmade ornaments, plaid textiles, and neutral color palettes with pops of festive reds and greens.
Whether you’re decorating your home or setting a beautiful holiday table, farmhouse style Christmas ideas inspire a heartfelt, welcoming environment perfect for gathering with loved ones.
This year’s holiday decorating style is neutral, rustic farmhouse. And I just finished decorating my home for the holidays so I’m turning my attention to entertaining guests for Christmas.
For Christmas Eve, I’m hosting a clam bake for our large family. Isn’t that so fun? The clam bake is made on the stovetop and it couldn’t be easier to do.
I’ve got a few Christmas table decor ideas, but I decided to tweak what I did for Thanksgiving to keep it simple. Because I really love that vintage toolbox, I wanted to use it again for the holidays.
So I swapped a few things out and tucked in some Christmas-related decor. I can’t wait to show you how it all looks!
Rustic Farmhouse Christmas Table Decor Ideas
The dining room is one of the first rooms you see when you walk into my home. It is one of my favorite rooms to decorate because we spend a lot of time with friends and family. When we host family and friends for dinner parties, I love to make it extra special for them.
Vintage Christmas Centerpiece: Step-by-Step Instructions
For this year’s Christmas centerpiece idea, I used a vintage toolbox and stuffed it with faux greens, mini trees, Christmas present ornaments, pinecones and fairy lights.
So it’s basically the same centerpiece I used on Thanksgiving, except I swapped out the gold pumpkins for the Christmas present ornaments. Isn’t it so cool how a simple switch can completely change the look?
I think it took about 2 minutes to change it up. I considered tucking some faux poinsettias in but decided to go with the gift ornaments instead.
Essential Supplies Needed for Vintage Christmas Centerpiece
- Vintage toolbox
- Winter Greenery (fresh or faux is fine!)
- Pinecones
- Christmas ornaments
- Fairy lights
- Berries
How to Make a Vintage Christmas Centerpiece
I started with my vintage toolbox that I found thrifting in Vermont. It’s this incredibly old wood toolbox that looks amazing with seasonal plants and flowers.
Because I want this centerpiece to be low-maintenance, I’m going with all faux Christmas greenery. If you want to go with fresh greenery, forage in your yard and grab what you need for free!
For this DIY Christmas centerpiece, I started with 3 mini trees and then tucked in some evergreen sprigs. To add some texture and dimension, I added some pinecones and small white berry sprigs. I also have these adorable neutral Christmas present ornaments that I thought would look so pretty in this arrangement.
To finish it off, I wrapped fairly lights that I can set on time around the entire centerpiece to make it look (and feel) cozier.
How pretty is the warm glow of the fairy lights on my dining room table? I smile every time I walk by this room because I just love how cozy it feels.
Fairy lights make a huge difference cozying up living space in fall and winter. I highly recommend getting them because they are really versatile and can be used anywhere.
Rustic Christmas Tablescape Ideas
Since I love my wood farmhouse table, I like to keep it exposed for a rustic elegant aesthetic. I layered a flannel table runner that I made years ago with a jute table runner on top.
For each Christmas table setting, I layered a cedar branch placemat, rattan chargers and two melamine decorative dinner plates. I found those dinner plates on clearance at my local nursery who sells the prettiest garden-inspired home decor.
If you are interested in finding decorative plates, there are so many to choose from and they can cost close to nothing if you go to a thrift store or get them on clearance after the holidays.
Because I love the wood of my farmhouse table, I prefer to leave it exposed. So I prefer to use table runners to soften the wood rather than table cloths. I layered a jute table runner over this flannel table runner that I made several years ago.
I’m really happy with how it turned out and know my family will love it too. This Christmas table decor idea is perfect for a cozy, casual Christmas dinner.
Final Thoughts on This DIY Christmas Tablescape
In conclusion, creating a rustic farmhouse Christmas tablescape is a delightful way to bring warmth and charm to your holiday celebrations. By incorporating vintage elements, natural materials, and personal touches, you can craft a memorable and inviting setting.
