Oreo Dump Cake Ingredients

  • 32 chocolate sandwich cookies with white filling (Oreos), plus extra for crumble topping

  • 8 ounces frozen whipped dessert topping (like Cool Whip), thawed
  • 1 package devil’s food or chocolate fudge cake mix

Oreo Dump Cake Directions

  1. Prep the Dish: Spray your 9×13 inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. This is key for easy removal and serving later. As an aside, this is the baking dish that I used for to make this recipe (the larger one of the 3).
  2. Oreo Layer: Arrange the Oreos in a single, even layer on the bottom of the dish. Don’t worry about perfection; just make sure they’re mostly touching.
  3. Sweetened Condensed Milk: Drizzle the entire can of sweetened condensed milk evenly over the Oreo layer. This adds a rich sweetness and helps bind everything together.
  4. Whipped Topping: Spread the thawed whipped topping over the condensed milk. This creates a creamy, dreamy layer.
  5. Cake Mix: Sprinkle the dry chocolate cake mix evenly over the whipped topping. No need to mix or prepare it in any way – that’s the magic of a dump cake!
  6. Cookie Crumble Topping: Crush a handful of extra Oreos into coarse crumbs. Sprinkle these crumbs evenly over the cake mix layer. This adds a fantastic textural element and more Oreo Cookie flavor.
  7. Butter: Distribute the sliced butter pats evenly over the cake mix and cookie crumble. This will create a wonderfully moist and decadent cake.
  8. Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the cake looks set and the edges are bubbly. The top might still appear a bit soft, but it will firm up as it cools.
  9. Serve: Let the cake cool slightly before serving. And now for the best part… a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of extra whipped cream on top takes this dessert to a whole new level of indulgence! You can even top it with some caramel sauce for a little extra fun.

Oreo Dump Cake Tips and Variations

  • Crumble Variations: For an extra touch of flavor, add a little melted butter or a pinch of cinnamon to the cookie crumbles. You can also use other types of cookies for the crumble if you’re feeling adventurous.
  • Crust Options: Craving an even thicker crust? Use a bit more butter or even a pre-made Oreo pie crust.
  • Mix-ins: Get creative! Add chopped nuts, chocolate chips, or a drizzle of chocolate syrup for extra flair.

Notes

If you need more or less butter pats, adjust accordingly. The idea is to have them melt on the cake so to help it set while in the oven.
If some of your cake mix still looks powdery, cut an extra pat of butter and allow it to melt on the top while the cake is still hot.
