How to Decorate a Table for Spring

Random Things Happening Behind the Scenes at Bricks ‘n Blooms

We had a gorgeous week here in New Jersey. It’s been so wonderful being outside again!

Since the weather was so lovely yesterday, we enjoyed an incredible evening on the deck with our new outdoor living set.

How awesome is that sunset???

The certified tree expert came this week to inspect our ash trees. I’m going to go a little more in-depth in a blog post about it, but the short of it is…the ash borer is doing a lot of damage.

And given it has been moving across the country and destroying ash trees at an alarming rate, I strongly suggest you find a certified arborist to have your trees inspected.

In the last week, damage to the tree bark expanded to two more trunks. This tree is a goner and I’m so sad about it.

My two front trees will need to be removed because they are too close to my house and power lines to keep with the extensive damage these pests caused.

But there are things a certified tree expert can do to help preserve ash trees if they have not been afflicted with these terrible pests yet.

So don’t delay in having your trees looked at!

The most interesting thing learned from this visit is the source of this damage to the tree bark. While it is the result of the tree having ash borers, the ash borers are not ripping the bark off themselves.

Woodpeckers are doing that damage! Apparently, the woodpeckers rip off the bark to get to the borers. I had no idea, did you?

On another note, yesterday my oldest daughter turned 21! I can’t even believe it.

Time really flies doesn’t it?

My gardens are starting to emerge from the ground and I even got some pretty blooms! My crocuses were the first to flower in the yard.

And now my daffodils are starting to bloom too. There aren’t many yet, but it’s starting!

Spring is here. Yay!

What’s Happening at Bricks ‘n Blooms

It was a BUSY week on the blog this week! I think I published a new blog almost every day.

I shared a tour of my home for spring and joined a huge spring tour with 29 other amazing home decor bloggers.

The inspiration is gorgeous!

Every home had some unique spring decor ideas that I would love to add to my own decorating style.

If you are looking for spring decorating inspiration, there’s lots to see in this home tour.

Are you on Pinterest? I participated in a Pinterest Challenge this week where a group of home decor bloggers was tasked with replicating an inspiration photo with their own decorating style.

I was so inspired by this challenge, that I made not one, but two centerpieces! Wait until you see the other one I made!

Amazing Inspiration from Around the Web

I love finding cool inspiration from around the web and wanted to share some of what I’m loving right now.

My favorite thing about blogging is the great friends I’ve made around the globe.

One of the homes that struck me during the spring home decor blog hop, is my friend Cecilia’s from My Thrift Store Addiction. I love how she styles all her vintage finds and just adore her pretty tablescape!

  1. I always love reading your weekly blog post, Stacy. But heartbroken to see all the damage that these pests are causing. And I would have never guessed about the woodpeckers! Happy Birthday, Mackenzie! That view by the fire was gorgeous and so is your garden. You were so busy last week! Thank you for sharing my home tour, my friend. Wishing you the best week ahead.

    1. Thanks Kim! I’m so sad about my trees! I can’t believe how much damage the emerald ash borer does and the sheer amount of it throughout my town! It’s unbelievable.
