What a week it was!

We got our first snow! It wasn’t much to speak of but looked so pretty in the gardens. I’ll share a few photos in this post to show you.

I spent the week getting ready for Christmas mostly. Wrapping, cleaning, organizing, and doing some last minute shopping. We are hosting our annual Christmas clambake with some family so I’ve got to prepare now by ordering the seafood and figuring out where we are sitting for dinner.

Our dining room can seat max about 10 people so we usually set up in the library for larger dinner parties. For those that don’t know, the library is my office so I need to break it all down to accommodate the holiday. It’s a little bit of work but the payoff is amazing because everyone can fit at the table for holiday meals.

Indoor Tropical Plant Update

Now that it’s been a few months with some recent online orders, I thought I’d share a little update on how some of the newbies are doing.

So far, I’ve only lost ONE plant out of like 40! It was an alocasia jaclyn and I don’t think she loved the change in her environment from greenhouse to my sunroom. They are a little more particular in their needs and she failed pretty quickly after arriving. So I’m chucking it up to that and will try again with her in spring when I can acclimate her to a little less winter chill.

Not that it’s cold in my home – because it is not. And she definitely traveled well. I just don’t think she loved the overall change from greenhouse to my sunroom. Can’t win them all…I’ll try again in a few months.

Some of the other rare plants I bought are doing incredibly well. I see some adjusting but have noticed some new growth as well so I’m not worried about them.

It’s been a random week of stuff! I’m starting to look at Christmas decor for my home and of course, needed a few odds and ends for the garden. Here’s what I’m shopping for this week!

  • Area rugs! I bought two more! This one for my living room and this one for my office in the library. I really love the traditional look in this home so I’m giving the swaps to my daughters as they are moving out this year.
  • I bought myself this hairdryer and have no clue why I waited so long to buy it. No more frizz, quicker drying time and I can style it from wet to dry! I usually get a keratin treatment but want to stop getting them and am looking for ways to style my hair with less damage. This was worth the investment.
  • I bought a few more of these ornament storage organizers for the eventual dismantling of Xmas. Last year, I bought a few of these for my family room vintage ornaments and it was SO EASY to take them out and decorate my tree from this organizer. So I decided to buy more for my front entry hall ornaments for easier storage! I cannot recommend these enough because they hold so much and truly make the job easier.
  • I love this boho floor lamp for my family room!
  • I’m thinking about this table lamp for my living room.
  • And I’m also thinking about this coat tree to use for some hanging plants so I can get them in front of one of my windows without damaging the walls.

These are the most popular products on my blog this week!
