Random Things Happening Behind the Scenes at Bricks ‘n Blooms

What a week it was!

We had a wonderful Christmas without any hiccups! No illnesses or cancellations – so it was a great time!

To kick off the holiday weekend, we went out for a light bite with my sister-in-law and her family. And then I hosted everyone for my annual Christmas clambake on Christmas Eve.

On Christmas Day, we enjoyed a slow roll morning opening gifts, sipping coffee, and making monkey bread with my mom and stepdad.

And then wrapped up the day at my other sister-in-law’s for Christmas dinner and a white elephant gift exchange.

After Christmas, my family and I spent a few days at the Vermont cabin for some skiing, snowshoeing, thrifting, and fun.

There was quite a bit of snow when we arrived, so of course my dogs immediately started rolling around in it. They LOVE arriving to fresh powder as much as we do!

We spent the week skiing and snowshoeing with cozy nights in front of the fire. My nephew came to hang with us which was so much fun. And it was a nice little getaway.

I even did a little bit of shopping with Tori. It’s nice to see her getting out and about easier as she feels better each day.

We came back for New Year’s to spend with our friends at our home to watch the Ohio State vs. Georgia bowl game. And then Chris and I are heading to Giant Stadium later today to watch the Giants vs. Colts game.

I am hoping we are back in time to catch Yellowstone tonight. Have you been watching???

It’s been busy but fun week. I’m ready to tackle the New Year with lots of fun projects and new plans for the garden. Can’t wait to tell you more later!

What I’m Shopping For This Week

This week has been all about some after-Christmas organization and storage ideas for all the things!

Here’s what I bought this week.

  • This Christmas tree ornament storage bin for my vintage ornaments.
  • This 9 ft Christmas tree bag fits my 7.5′ tree, skirt, and topper!
  • These chaise lounges for my bedroom.
  • These snowshoes. If you don’t love skiing and just want to putter around in the snow, I highly recommend snowshoeing. It’s great exercise and gives you a good reason to enjoy the outdoors in winter.
  • This garden tool belt. With a property this large, I need a belt so I have everything with me when I’m working in the beds.
  • These boots for the garden. It can get pretty muddy here. The reviews say to size down – I did that – it’s a little snug but my regular size might have been way too large.
  • This candle.
  • This watering can. It’s decorative enough to leave around the house for easier watering.
  • These faux plants for my library shelves. I’m starting to work on the library and it gets little to no light. So faux is the way to go!
  • Another great faux plant for bookshelves or end table.
  • Love this wreath.
  • I LOVE this plant stand. Note to Chris – think Valentine’s Day.

What’s Happening at Bricks ‘n Blooms

It was a fun week on the blog!

We looked back at some reader favorites this week and I was surprised at a few that made the lists! I’ve been blogging since late 2018 so it’s neat to see some oldies but goodies sneak their way in there.

To kick off the week of favorites, we looked back at the top 10 posts that resonated with you in 2022. From gardening to decorating and some really yummy recipes, we covered a lot of ground!

We also looked back at your all-time favorite recipes. And I have to say, they are mine too because they are easy to assemble and make in record time.

And because gardening is my main passion, I shared your top 20 readers’ gardening blog favorites that truly covered all facets of gardening that include flowers, vegetables, and houseplants.

Plus, I shared some great after-Christmas ideas that include organizing your holiday decor as you put it away, decluttering and organizing your home in the New Year, as well as transitioning your home decor to a winter aesthetic.

I also shared a cozy candlelight Christmas home tour on both my blog and YouTube Channel. Come see my vintage farmhouse all twinkled up for the holidays in my latest video here.

Amazing Inspiration from Around the Web

I love finding cool inspiration from around the web and wanted to share some of what I’m loving right now.

My good friend Jennifer from Cottage on Bunker Hill shared these easy and beautiful dried flower ornaments for your tree.

They look so unique and simple to make. I’d love to make these for my flocked Christmas tree next year.

Aren’t they so pretty?

My good friend AnnMarie and Anne from Simply 2 Moms each shared their candlelight Christmas tour that was so pretty!

AnnMarie’s home looks so pretty all twinkled up for the holidays, doesn’t it?

I love how that tree looks in the corner of her dining room.

And Anne’s home looks equally as beautiful!

From her cozy porch decor to cozy Christmas lights in her home, I love how it looks all lit up for the holidays.

And that staircase garland looks amazing too!
