Hosting Thanksgiving 2024 Essentials

I love to host Thanksgiving and have been hosting it for over 25 years now. It is so much work but SO fun to do. And I love having my home decked out for fall. But most of all, I enjoy decorating my table for our family to enjoy an amazing sit down meal.

Do you host Thanksgiving too? Or do you prefer to attend? Let me know in the comments below I’d love to hear.

Thanksgiving Table Decoration Ideas

I shared my best tips for hosting the best Thanksgiving as well as how to set a cozy Thanksgiving table.

To me, no table is complete without an incredible centerpiece together with layers of cozy fall decor.

Decorating a dining room table is one of my favorite things to do.

And if I can cut flowers from my garden to make a beautiful centerpiece? Even better.

I enjoy making them myself and shared a lot of seasonal ways you can create a dining table centerpiece. Plus, you can save a lot of money making them yourself.

If you don’t have a cottage garden to cut from, no worries. Just head to your local florist or market and pick up a few bunches of fall flowers to brighten up your table.

If you’d rather not work with fresh flowers, try making an arrangement with faux flowers using these dining table centerpiece ideas. Sometimes faux is the way to go if you want a set-and-forget approach to decorating a table.

But if you want to make a gorgeous arrangement that will really wow your guests? Try making this cozy harvest fall centerpiece idea or this fresh pumpkin centerpiece idea with fresh flowers.

But regardless of whether you go with something faux or real, I’ve got a ton of ideas for you. Whatever you decide to do, a beautiful centerpiece for the dining table sets the tone for the whole Thanksgiving party. So make sure you have one!

Make Room for More Guests at the Dining Room Table

Hosting a large Thanksgiving this year? I am so NOT a fan of using folding tables to extend our dining table to accommodate everyone. The legs are wobbly, the tables are different sizes, and it never looks quite right. To address this problem, we made this DIY dining table topper a few years ago and it has worked out great!

Thanksgiving 2024

Given my love for setting a pretty table, I’m thinking about how I want to decorate the table this year. My theme for this year’s Thanksgiving table will be simple, cozy, and neutral.

So I just ordered THESE napkins but I’m leaning toward THESE mustard colored linen napkins to accentuate the gold in the chandelier.

I have a few neutral linen napkins, but want the extra details on the edging to add a little more texture to the dining table.

I also just ordered THIS tablecloth. It’s so pretty right? But I don’t know – I might go with THIS ONE instead. I could leave the tabletop exposed but prefer to use a tablecloth in my new dining room.

I may use THESE again as the chargers. It’s funny, I own a few options for chargers but gravitate to these with almost every tablescape, so I’m just going to assume I’m using them again.

LOL!

But here at the new house, I’ve been gravitating to my gold chargers like these.

We may have a larger crowd here than usual, so I may go with THESE instead of my Lenox or Everyday dinnerware.

My Forever 49th birthday is the day before Thanksgiving, so I’m planning on hosting a big crowd to celebrate!

THESE are great for larger crowds because they are reusable, light and heavy duty enough for Thanksgiving dinner.

And with a larger crowd, I’m going to need to keep dishes warm while we cook and reheat dishes.

I love THIS and will continue to get a lot of use out of it after Thanksgiving.

If you decide to make some butternut or pumpkin soup, you got to try serving it in this beautiful pumpkin cocotte to both serve and keep the soup warm.

It would look gorgeous on the table, am I right?
