Fall Home Tour 2026: Come On In, the Hydrangeas Are Inside!

Welcome to my fall home tour for 2026! Come on in, but don’t be surprised if you find hydrangeas in just about every room.

I’ve been cutting them from the gardens and bringing them indoors as the flowers take on those gorgeous vintage fall colors. And apparently, I have a hard time stopping at just one arrangement!

This year, I’ve kept my fall decorating pretty simple, letting the hydrangeas, houseplants, and a few seasonal touches do most of the work.

Given we’ve had such a long growing season this year, I’ve been enjoying all the things outside and have slow-rolled with my decor inside.

So come on in and take a look around!

The Front Porch

I’ve got two front porches that welcome visitors and they are both part of the Welcome Garden. The covered porch is where we sit, hang out and soak in the views while our double door entry is our main entrance.

The Front Entry Hall

Our front entry hall has come a long way since we moved in back in 2021. It was a dark cranberry red with heavy faux finishes that took away from the beauty of the architectural features and painted inlayed wood floor. See what my front entry hall looked like before here.

Now, we use it more as a pass through to the upstairs and a place to play chess or mahjong with friends. My fall decor is pretty simple with dried hydrangeas and gourds, while my houseplants carry the space season to season.

The Dining Room

The dining room has been through it’s own transformation through the years. When we first moved here, the walls had padding and fabric that quickly came down and it had a heavy faux painted textured ceiling. To tone things down, we removed the fabric, padding, did some serious wall repairs, and painted over it all.

After many attempts at decorating the space, I’ve finally settled on a vibe that I’ll tweak more as the years come. Most of this space was thrifted at our Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity Restore in Manville, New Jersey.

While I’ve used hydrangeas in baskets before throughout my home, this year, I decided to make it the centerpiece in the room. And for the first time, I cut extra hydrangeas to tuck in on my faux mantel. And I love the result.

I spent years honing my china cabinet display and shared my design process here: how to arrange your china cabinet.

The Living Room

One of the reasons I wait so long to share the inside of my home is because half of my decor is still on the front porch! All of my houseplants summer outdoors and I don’t start bringing them in until the night temperatures drop below 60 degrees.

I’ve been taking my time tweaking things and moving them around so they get the right light and add to the coziness of every space. Green is definitely my favorite color!

For fall, I really only tuck in a few dried gourds, hydrangeas, and call it a day. When one of my black cats tuckens themselves in…even better! It’s simple and makes my home feel seasonally welcoming.

The Family Room

The family room has gone through a radical transformation since moving here and is the hub of our home. It sits off the kitchen and is where my family gathers after a long day. This room has floor to ceiling windows, so I take advantage of them and grow what I can where I can.

It’s an active space so I have to be mindful of placement with pets and people traffic, but it feels cozy when we’re living day to day. The only thing that’s missing? Is a fireplace…I really wish we had a fireplace in here.

Someday.

The Plant Room (AKA the Sunroom)

What started out as a sunroom has become a major indoor garden. I grow a large part of my collection in here and LOVE sitting in here with Chris. Whether we are chatting over a morning cup of coffee or I’m reading a good book, this has become a place where I can get away and find some peace from the daily grind.

It feels very much alive when the winter is dark and cold. And much like the rest of my home, has gone through a serious transformation. This was a biggie – see the before of my sunroom here.

Aside from my plants, these swivel chairs are the best because I can face them in towards the library or out towards the gardens. The plant shelves help create a living wall so every plant gets the light they need to thrive. And for fall, I added some buffalo checked blankets and a few dried gourds.

Bring the Garden Indoors and Enjoy It All Year Long

One of the things I love most about decorating with plants and flowers is that the garden doesn’t have to end when the growing season does.

Between my houseplants, fresh and dried flowers, and other natural elements, I love bringing a little of the outdoors into every room. And while plants make a home feel warm, cozy, and lived in, knowing how to care for them is just as important as knowing where to put them!

That’s exactly what I share in my book, Filling Your Home with Life: A No-Fail Guide to Styling Your Home with the Perfect Plants.

I’ll help you choose the right houseplants for your space, understand what they need to thrive, and find beautiful ways to style them throughout your home. Because there’s nothing better than decorating with living plants that actually stay alive!

Final Thoughts on My Fall Home Tour 2026

Well, that’s a wrap on my fall home tour! I may have gone a little overboard with the hydrangeas this year, but when you’ve got so many beautiful blooms growing in the garden, why not enjoy them indoors too?

What I love most about decorating for fall is watching my home change right along with the gardens. A few flowers brought indoors, some cozy seasonal touches, and plenty of houseplants make everything feel warm and welcoming while keeping that connection to the outdoors.

And that’s really how I approach decorating throughout the year. The garden is always my inspiration, and I love finding ways to bring a little of it inside as the seasons change.

If you’re looking for more inspiration, check out how I choose a fall color palette inspired by the garden.
