Random Things Happening Behind the Scenes at Bricks ‘n Blooms

What a week it was!

Family Life

Both Tori and Shana started classes this week. We documented Tori’s last first day of school as she drove herself for the first time.

That was pretty surreal.

And Shana seems to be settling in well in both her classes and new living space.

In the Garden

It finally rained!!!!

We had a good day of a good soaking rain and the plants seem much happier.

We still have some casualties from the excessive heat and drought conditions we’ve had here, but hopefully, the rain helped.

At Home

Chris and I stopped by Fritz Fish Pond and snagged the last 5 shubunkin goldfish to stock the pond.

It was pretty cool to see how big the fish we bought in June grew based on the original size we bought them in the store.

Our shubunkins got really big in just two months!

So cool.

When we added the new fab 5, they joined the school of OG’s in the pond as if they’ve been hanging out this whole time.

It was so neat to see how quickly they socialized.

Now that I’m feeling the back-to-school vibes, I started decorating my home for fall.

I’ve been working on the thrift store mantel. Not loving it yet. May change course if it doesn’t come out the way I want it to. But sticking with it for now.

We hung some pictures on the wall, I set out some autumn-colored pillows and some faux flowers and branches.

And I even did a little shopping. I’m on a budget so I didn’t go crazy but with the new house, I picked up a few new things for the season.

Here’s what I’m shopping for this week.

What’s Happening at Bricks ‘n Blooms

It was a fun week on the blog!

We made some cool things and hosted a really fun party!

It’s that time of the month when my supper club and I get together with a themed dinner idea.

This month, we are celebrating the season with a GORGEOUS garden party complete with entertaining ideas and an incredible food menu.

And if that theme isn’t up my alley, I’m not sure what is!

So I set a beautiful table in the potager garden with some fresh cut flowers from my garden and the mood was set!

Since I was in charge of the appetizer, I decided to make my easy hummus recipe that I’ve been making all summer long. But this time, I served it some pretty rice cake flowers inspired by this post on Pinterest.

Aren’t they so pretty?

Hummus on its own is not so pretty. I love this presentation for a garden party, healthy snack, or fun appetizer idea. I am really glad I found the inspo on Pinterest.

In addition to supper club, we chatted more about fall gardening where I highlighted some great plants that are perfect for fall. Whether you want to grow flowers or vegetables, this post has you covered with ideas.

And finally, I shared a list of garden tasks to do in fall.

From planting spring flowering bulbs to cleaning up the beds, it’s time to rock ‘n roll! I LOVE FALL!

  1. Stacy, your table is just beautiful and all those flowers! Good luck to your girls as they embark on another school year. I have one starting grad school, one in her senior year of college and another applying to grad school….New starts and adventures for them. Happy Sunday!

  2. All I have to say is that one of those new fishies names better start with a “J” and end in “ifer”!!!
I love, love that round end table and that rug will look really good in the dining room.
Thanks for sharing me this week!!
