Hi there!

I hope you had an amazing week!

After being away for a few days last week, I am feeling REALLY behind in the gardens. A ginormous order was shipped and unboxed from Proven Winners just before I left so I had my work cut out for me when I got home this week.

And it has been busy!!!

I got them all placed and planted.

Yesterday, I planted my lisianthus. Yes…the one that I said I wasn’t going to grow again? Well, I’m definitely not growing them from seed again, but I decided to purchase plugs. They look pretty healthy, so let’s see how they grow! I planted an apricot and deep rose variety in the welcome garden. If they grow this way and I enjoy them…I may change my mind about them.

Today, I am finally getting my dahlias in the ground – this is the longest it has ever taken me to get them planted so I am assuming it will be awhile before I see flowers.

Oh and I also dug up and removed all of those tulips in the raised beds so I can get them planted. I could leave them in and see what comes back next year, but most won’t reliably return so I will replant it with a new bunch of bulbs in the fall.

Bring the Outdoors In With My Third Book!

A quick reminder that my new book, Filling Your Home with Life, is available for preorder.

It’s all about bringing the outdoors in — helping you grow and style indoor plants with confidence. If you’ve ever struggled with houseplants, this one is for you.

Preorders truly help support the book and get it into more hands when it launches. Thank you for supporting my work!

We are fixing some bare patches in my lawn. This is the seed I am using.

Last year, I bought these shorts for summer and they are THE BEST so I bought a few new colors for this year. They come in a bunch of different lengths but I prefer the 5″. They aren’t too short and not too long. It’s great for summer while working in the beds or just walking around in high, humidity. They fit true to size and you can ge them in so many different colors.

🌷 Mid-Spring Garden Supplies I’m Stocking Up On

  • Slow-Release Fertilizer — an easy way to feed garden beds gradually as plants wake up for the season
  • Bloom Booster – A great add on to help keep flowering annuals blooming strong throughout the growing season.
  • PlantSkydd Wildlife Repellent — my go-to organic deterrent for rabbits, deer, and other garden visitors
  • Deer Out Deer Repellent — a second line of defense when deer pressure ramps up in spring
  • Wire Cloches — simple protection for tender seedlings, yarrow, and other plants rabbits love to nibble
  • Potting Soil — my favorite organic blend for containers, seed starts, and transplanting
  • Drip Irrigation for Pots – keeps your summer containers hydrated in the heat of summer without the work from you. Do this – you’ll thank me later.
A vibrant mix of flowers, including large purple clematis, small pink, white, and yellow blooms, and green leaves, all arranged closely together, creating a colorful, detailed floral display.

Earlier this week I shared a few ways to keep bearded iris from flopping over, along with why some perennials fail to bloom and what you can do to encourage stronger flowering.

I also wrote about growing dahlias in pots, companion planting with herbs, and how to make peony bouquets last longer indoors.

There’s a more personal post on why my tulips definitely aren’t low maintenance — and why I keep planting them anyway.

And with outdoor entertaining season here, I shared a few easy garden-inspired BBQ recipes, including grilled sausage and peppers that’s perfect for summer gatherings.

Over on YouTube, I shared what Longwood Gardens taught me about great garden design, along with ten ideas I’m bringing home from Chanticleer Garden to use in my own spaces.

Thank you so much for following along.

Enjoy a beautiful day! xo
