Behind the Scenes at Bricks ‘n Blooms
Last week, we were traveling back from the wedding in Florida so I didn’t get to share all that much from the big weekend but it was so fun and SO COLD!
The ceremony was outdoors at the Palmira Golf Club and a cold front with crazy winds came through just before the ceremony began. But the bride looked beautiful, my nephew looked so handsome, and it was a moving ceremony.
We were suppose to have the cocktail reception outdoors, but because it was literally winter-like conditions, they moved us indoors at the very last second.
Food was amazing (I had the chilean sea bass which I highly recommend). And it was so much fun boogeying on the dance floor and reconnecting with our family. Here are a few pics from the weekend.

Now that we’re back and I’m not traveling for a while, I’m starting to acclimate our adopted cats to the rest of the house. I had them in one large bedroom for the time being so they can acclimate to our home and get to know me.
I’ve been letting them explore the second and third floors now without my dogs. They haven’t met officially yet – but they all know each other is there. Mae Mae has seen them laying at the bottom of the stairs when she peers through the railing. So far so good, everyone is adjusting well.
Mae Mae (the fluffy mom cat) is super friendly, confident, and sweet. She has been really excited to check things out and explore more. I love that she follows me around like my dogs do. It’s so cute!

Tiny is a bit more shy out of the room. In the bedroom with the door closed, she hangs out, loves to play, and wants lots of attention. But the open door is a bit intimidating for her. She has come out and explored in bits and pieces but is still deferring to her mom for guidance. I expect she’ll take longer to acclimate, so we’ll take baby steps for long-term success. But so far so good, all is going really well!
I can’t believe they were in foster for so long (about two years).

On another note, it’s been so cold here, I haven’t done very much except organize all my seed starting supplies and shoveled out some sections where I want to maintain my winter sown containers. More to come!

Seasonal Essentials
A Few Good Finds
Our book club is reading this – have you read it before?
This fun date night heel
This midi skirt
I love this pleated chiffon skirt
And this linen blend skirt is perfect for spring
This canvas art for my bedroom wall
This quilted wallet crossbody is great for those less casual nights out
Remember the black dress and shoes for the wedding I told you about? I am linking them here – the dress was very comfortable. I love the shoes too because I wanted a heel that wouldn’t be too high and yet, not too low either. These were perfect!

From the Week
Earlier this week I shared how I plan my flower garden each year — a simple approach that’s helped me stay focused and actually follow through as the season unfolds.
I also wrote about the seed starting mistakes I’ve made over the years, so you don’t have to learn them the hard way.
And there’s a quieter post about finally figuring out what my fiddle leaf fig actually needed — after a lot of trial and error.
There’s also a post about resetting our living room — a small shift that ended up making the space work much better for how we actually live.
And heading into the weekend, I put together a Super Bowl snack playbook with a mix of favorites and a few new ideas. Wait until you try some of these recipes!
- Can’t Stop Eating This Creamy Spinach Artichoke Dip
- Mozzarella Caprese Appetizer Bites
- Pear, Brie, and Prosciutto Crostini
- Grandma’s Classic Bruschetta
And my latest YouTube video just dropped! Come hear all about winter sowing seeds outdoors, why I started, and how it’s shaped the way I garden now.
