What a week it was!

Behind the Scenes

Our kittens are growing bigger by the day. They are super playful and seem to be adjusting well to their new home.

Chris and I spent the night in Vermont so we could close up the boat for the season and drop it off at the marina for winter storage. Southern Vermont is just starting to get that fall color you hear so much about. While we are here, we are stopping by the flea market to see what the vendors have. Hopefully, I’ll find something cool today!

I finished decorating my family room for fall and will be sharing it on the blog later this week. To wrap things up, I made two hydrangea wreaths for the front door from my limelight hydrangeas and they look so good! I’ve wanted to add wreaths there for the longest time but hadn’t gotten around to it until now.

In the Garden

As we approach the first frost, I’m trying to soak in the last few weeks of my flower gardens this year. I’ve been cutting, arranging, and drying flowers for my home.

The dahlias took so long this year to bloom but are beyond spectacular right now! My zinnias are fading out so once the blooms are done, I’ll pull them.

The celosia is blooming like crazy right now! I have so many varieties here too so it’s been fun to see them all. I wasn’t expecting some to get as tall as they have but the blooms are pretty incredible. My plan for them is just before the first frost, I am cutting as many blooms as I can and then hanging them to dry in the she shed.

Speaking of stellar blooms, the gomphrena that I started from seed is still doing incredible too! I plan to cut them all and dry them as well for future decorating projects.

I also cut a bunch of herbs to start drying them too. Do you know how much money you can save by drying your own? If you grow them anyway, it’s a no-brainer to do. And if you want to save money, don’t bother buying special jars for them, just wash out and reuse the ones you already have!
