Random Things Happening Behind the Scenes at Bricks ‘n Blooms

What a week it was!

I finished planting all of my spring flowering bulbs for next year in the nick of time because it is pretty cold here now!

However, I have a few indoor bulbs left as I’m planting a few amaryllis and paperwhites for the sunroom.

But I kind of wanted to wait on those a bit so they bloom after Christmas.

I had a few amaryllises that bloomed around Christmas last year and while I appreciated them, I enjoy them much more after the holidays when all of the holiday decor is down.

With the gardening season in the rearview mirror here, I’m turning my attention to Christmas decorating here at the new house.

I am wrapping up my front entry hall with my new King of Christmas tree. And wound up ordering the wreath too.

And let me tell you it looks fabulous!!! I can’t wait to share this one with you soon.

We also closed up and winterized the ponds for the winter. Let’s all say a little prayer for the fish because I’m hoping they make it through the winter.

They should all be OK, but having never done this before, it’s all a learning experience for me.

But, I’ll tell you.

Even with frost on the plants, it’s still so pretty here!

What I’m Shopping For This Week

Oh, I’ve been doing a lot of shopping for last-minute holiday decor here. Since we moved in just before the holidays last year, I didn’t decorate much, nor did I purchase much for the house.

So I sort of feel like I’m catching up. But it all takes time.

I’m also still potting up some plant divisions, so I’m still shopping around for them too.

And I’ve been moving furniture around in the family room and thinking about adding some new items to spruce things up. I’m excited to see how this space will change over the next year.

Here’s what I shopped for this week!

What’s Happening at Bricks ‘n Blooms

It was a fun week on the blog!

We had another busy week here as we head into the holiday season.

My supper club and I moved our monthly gathering up a week so we didn’t overlap with Thanksgiving next weekend.

So this week, we got together to celebrate Christmas with a family breakfast (or brunch depending on when you decide to wake up in the morning LOL).

The menu is incredible.

And I even shared how pretty the whole dining room looks this year for the holidays.

In addition to supper club, I FINALLY finished my thrift store mantel and how I decorated it for Christmas too!

It took me about 5 minutes to decorate it too because I used a less is more approach with it and loved the result.

Amazing Inspiration from Around the Web

I love finding cool inspiration from around the web and wanted to share some of what I’m loving right now.

My good friend Jen from Midwest LIfe and Style set the prettiest table for our supper club this week and I love it!

What a sweet way to set a table.

I love how she incorporated those cute gingerbread houses with festive Christmas greenery and red ticking strip ribbon.

My good friend Robyn from Robyn’s French Nest always designs the prettiest mantels.

I mean, shut the front door! How incredible does this look!

As an aside, I am all about the golds and greens this year so I really love how she decorated her mantel with golds, woods, whites and Christmas greenery.
