In the Garden

We’ve had a bit of rain this week but overall…it is go time! I received a few orders already and did some plant shopping so I’ve been busy planting the beds. So far I’ve planted 36 peonies, 30 siberian and bearded irises, pansies, asparagus, raspberries, new gen boxwoods and a few other perennials here and there.

I’ve also been busy digging and dividing perennials as I’m removing quite a bit from along the driveway garden to make way for summer driveway repairs. It’s a lot of work but I’ll be glad I moved them out now instead of trying to move them later.

We removed all the pachysandra around one of the tree scultpures in the front yard gardens and it looks SO MUCH better. I’ve planted it up with some peonies and perennial divisions so far. I’ll likely tuck in some zinnias, snapdragons and some other flowering annuals when we get closer to that portion of planting season.

What’s Blooming

The hellebores, daffodils, forsythia, stock, pansies, nemesia, baby’s breath spirea, ranunculus, and vinca are going strong. Some of my shade garden perennials in the zen garden are starting to flower as well that include brunnera, lungwort, epimedium, and Virginia bluebells. My hyacinths have begun to bloom and smell incredible. And the tulips are just starting to get their buds!

The Potager Garden Update

The potager garden has come a long way since we moved in back in 2021 and I love where it is going! The flowers look incredible and for the first time, I’ve got asparagus growing. Go me!

I planted mature crowns last year from the nursery and they are growing this year. I noticed them as I was preparing to plant 24 purple passion asparagus in the same area. How exciting!

Bedroom Update

In more exciting news, my dressers arrived and look so good! So I spent these last few rainy days in my closet getting rid of things I don’t wear and reorganizing my things. I have a nice size walk-in closet but it’s made more for a lot of shoes. Which I have but not that many! I needed the extra drawer space just to corral my clothes a little better. Plus, we needed the furniture to help the space feel more like a finished room.

And I love where it’s going! I started moving some houseplants up there and it’s starting to feel a little cozier every day. We’ve even started a new thing where we enjoy a cup of coffee up there in the lounge chairs and debrief before we start the day. It’s been great!

I still have a ways to go in here but figured I’d show you where it’s going. Currently, I’m on the hunt for throw pillows and working on what houseplants are going where. I just brought a few up here for now to start looking at what I want to do. More to come!

Puppy Update

My sweet boy, Gus, has become a little mama’s boy! He follows me everywhere and likes to be close. So it’s no surprise he was not loving his crate so much at night. Don’t get me wrong, he would tolerate it but recently started voicing his displeasure for the first 10 minutes or so.

Truthfully, we are happy to let him sleep with us but the few times we tried, he couldn’t settle down, so the crate was a better space for him (and us) to get some rest.

Well…that changed this week! While I was getting ready for bed one night this week, he decided he was going to bed in our bed with Koda. So when I was finished and ready to go into bed…there he was all cuddled up! We figured okay if you can behave then you can stay and he’s slept with us ever since.

I know not everyone loves their dogs sleeping with them but Chris and I have always preferred it as we enjoy the cuddle time with our fur babies.

I’ve been focusing more on my bedroom lately so this what I’ve purchased so far for a cozy space!

  • I bought two of these beautiful spring wreaths for my front doors on the porch.
  • And I bought these two gorgeous wreaths for my family room front doors. I love how they go with my new pillows and area rug!
  • I’m thinking about getting this storage bench for the potager garden to hold my chair cushions.
  • These comfy sweatpants are on serious sale – I highly recommend! You could size down. They run a little oversized.
  • I also love this sweatshirt – super cozy and crazy soft!
  • New purse alert! Love the boho vibe!
  • Love this print for my bedroom too!
