Random Things Happening Behind the Scenes at Bricks ‘n Blooms
Happy New Year! I hope you all enjoyed it with your family and friends. This week had a lot going on in the news and if you were affected by the attacks, you are in my prayers.
After Christmas
After spending a few fun days in Vermont with our family for some down time and skiing, we came home to party with friends on New Year’s Eve. It was so great to see everyone! We went out for an early dinner at one of our favorite Italian restaurants, Cafe Sapori, and then all came back here after for a hang with some football.
On January 2, I hit the ground running taking Christmas down. It is all gone and put away! Three trees and four rooms in a day was quite a feat but I got it done.
My Indoor Garden
Remember the amaryllis and paperwhites I planted a few weeks ago? They started blooming and OMG the flowers are stupendous.
Let’s talk about the first of my amaryllis blooms to arrive because I’m still waiting on the rest. ‘Velvet nymph’ is a real showstopper! I planted three bulbs in an oversized ceramic bowl and underplanted them with three frosty ferns. It all came as a kit from White Flower Farm and it’s quite impressive!
My friends that were here on NYE couldn’t believe how big, bold, and beautiful they are! I learned that frosty ferns can dry out pretty easily, so if you decide to grow them – check on them often! Overall my planter is doing so well and the blooms keep on coming!
Next up, are my ziva paperwhites. I potted them up in a few different planters but this one started blooming first and the flower smell ah-mazing! I was a little lazy about supporting them this year as I’ve been busy doing other planty things but I’m rolling with it! LOL!

- It’s that time of year again! Stocking up on my seed starting soil.
- I’m adding a few grow lights for my house plants.
- I also bought a few of these copper decorative pots for my plants in the library.
- Since I did some repotting this week, I want to stock up on these clear nursery pots again. The more I use them the more I love them. It really is nice to see the soil and what’s happening with the roots.
- I bought this dress for New Year’s Eve – it is still on sale and was crazy soft and comfortable to wear. A patron at the restaurant stopped to ask me about it on my way out. If you love a boho chic dress – this one is a must-have for winter.
- These pajamas are super soft and comfy. I love it.
- Cutest romper that is super comfortable and easy to dress up or down. I bought it in green.
- Love my new shirt dress that I’ve been wearing with a denim jacket and riding boots. Super cute look for church, book club or lunch with friends.
- Also needed to replenish some beauty supplies that include this facial wash, facial scrub, hydrating serum,
