What a week it was!

Behind the Scenes

It was a busy week for my family! Last weekend, Chris and I went to the Giants game. It was not a pretty game at all so we left after the third quarter. We were supposed to stay after and hang out on the field for a bit but the game was so awful, it wasn’t worth waiting the extra hour and a half! Yikes.

We also welcomed two cute kittens into our home that we’ve named Harry and Louie. They are super cute! I’ve wanted to add some outdoor cats to help with critter control. My hope is they’ll help scare off groundhogs and rabbits in addition to other rodents like mice and chipmunks as they venture outdoors.

We’ve given them the cottage so we are calling them cottage cats. LOL! For now, they are indoors until they are mature enough to have free access indoors and out.

On Friday, we went to the Yankees vs Red Sox game and it was such a fun time! The Yankees won after being down for quite some time and made a huge comeback with a grand slam. It was a loooooong day though. We left around 3 and did not get back until almost 1AM!

So I spent yesterday catching up on a few things in the gardens and taking a quiet day by the pool before it closes for the season at the end of the month.

In the Garden and My Home

I started planting for fall! Yay! So far, I potted up a few planters, added some new flowers in the potager garden to rehab the raised bed that the groundhog nailed, and started pulling some supertunias. It is time!

As I’m thinking about it, I haven’t updated you on our koi fish drama! Well…there hasn’t been any! Our strategy to protect the pond has kept the heron away so they are doing well and loving life.

I’ve also spent some time drying flowers this week for a project I am working on. They look so good too! I’ve been air-drying some and using silica gel on a few others. It’s a great way to preserve flowers.

In addition to my project, I am also cutting some hydrangeas for drying too. I’ve added them to a few arrangements and want to make some wreaths for my family room.

Speaking of the family room, I ordered a new chair to complete the sitting area in this space. I’ve only been talking about doing it for the longest time and finally made the move. It looks so good and really completes the look!

It’s been a random week of stuff! I’m starting to look at fall decor for my home and of course, needed a few odds and ends for the garden. Here’s what I’m shopping for this week!

If you are getting ready for fall like I am, here are my fall garden essentials. But there are a few other odds and ends I am restocking up on before I get busy planting this week!
