Random Things Happening Behind the Scenes at Bricks ‘n Blooms

What a week it was!

We hosted Thanksgiving here and had such a good time! It was our first year hosting in the new house and things couldn’t have gone better.

I guess I’m going to have to stop calling it the new house soon. We’ve been here almost a year now since we moved in on December 14, 2021.

But I digress.

As we were preparing, cooking, and setting up for the big day, we realized how much easier it is to host here.

The layout is much different than our former home and the house flows so much better. Plus, we decided to set up one long table in the library which made it easier for everyone to move around.

At any rate, it was a fun but exhausting day and I’m really looking forward to Christmas now!

Shana came home on Monday night to spend a few days with us. She left to go back to school on Friday though because it was the big Ohio State vs Michigan game at her school and she did not want to miss out on the fun.

It was a competitive game until the second half and then MIchigan took the game. Ah well, at least she had fun on game day.

After we cleaned up Thanksgiving, it’s been an all-hands-on-deck kind of decorating weekend here.

Go Buckeyes!

Chris collected all of the pumpkins that were on the fences and walls then ditched them along the outskirts of the woods on our property. When I say ditch, I mean, we are going to let them rot in various spots on the edges of the property to see if they’ll come back next year.

Have you ever had that happen before?

I’m sure the animals will eat them too and that’s OK. I hope at least one or two of them grow back next year.

I wrapped up the front entry hall Christmas tree, living room, and am almost done with the family room.

There are a few things I decided to order at the last minute for that space, so it won’t be quite finished when I share my holiday home tour this week.

What I’m Shopping For This Week

With Black Friday and Cyber Week Deals happening right now, I put the pedal to the metal to get some Christmas shopping done!

Here’s what I’m shopping for this week!

I have those pretty butterfly linen prints that flank my built-ins in the family room, but I’m not feeling it with my winter decor, so I am shopping for some festive prints for winter, and here’s what’s in my cart right now.

And they are still in my cart because I prefer more of a winter look and less Christmas to get more out of the season with them. I haven’t decided how to do it yet so in my cart they will sit.

But I also did some Christmas shopping for my kids and family too. Oh and for me!

What’s Happening at Bricks ‘n Blooms

Since I was pretty busy getting ready for Thanksgiving and decorating our home for Christmas this week, I took a little time off from blogging this week.

Don’t get me wrong, I was still working on things behind the scenes, but I needed a break from the daily blogging to get things accomplished.

We’ve got a lot of cool stuff coming up over the next month so things are gearing up again.

This week, we wrapped up all things Thanksgiving, and I shared how to take care of the poinsettias that you picked up or were gifted this weekend.

I also shared my favorite Black Friday shopping deals.

And it’s my favorite time of year to design and create outdoor winter planters for the porch. So I shared some planters I’ve done in the past for inspiration.

Finally, I brought you guys shopping with me at my favorite local nursery to pick up winter greenery for my planters this year. We talked about what I look for in greens, plus we shopped the Christmas house for decor.

  1. I’m so happy you hosted Thanksgiving in your new (not for long) home, Stacy. I love that picture of you and Chris. And that turkey looks delicious. Now on to a very busy December. Thanks for sharing my holiday kitchen post.
