Random Things Happening Behind the Scenes at Bricks ‘n Blooms
What a week it was!
Family Life
Well, she did it!
My oldest daughter graduated from Bucknell University last Sunday with a degree in Psychology.
While the graduates were walking in but before the commencement started, we facetimed her – it was so funny!
The day was really hot but we enjoyed every moment of the commencement and are super proud of Mackenzie and her big accomplishment.
And now, I get to spend some time with her at home. Yay!
We’ve already spent some fun days out by the pool. I love that she’s back home for a bit.
In the Garden
My daughter Shana and I have been busy in the gardens. All of the pumpkin seeds she started for me last week are germinating so we’ll be getting those in the ground soon.
We went shopping for some container garden annuals. I need to wrap up my planters!
I planted some hanging baskets of scaevola on the front porch and they look gorgeous!
At Home
We had another house issue this week. I was in the middle of making dinner one afternoon and the water completely shut off!
Of course, it happened later in the day so it took some time getting an expert in to help us figure out what happened.
It turns out, we needed 3 different companies to help us get it back on! It took over 24 hours to fix it but our well is back up and running again.
But I have to tell you by the 18th hour without water and still not knowing what was wrong with it, I was not feeling very confident it would turn back on.
Bryan Well Drilling did some great detective work and got us up and running again. It turns out something was wrong with the starter wire, if I’m even stating the problem correctly. LOL!
If you are in the area, I highly recommend them as well as Gould Well & Pump Services. Both companies were extremely helpful getting our water back on. It was not an easy one and we are grateful they helped us!
There’s Still Time to Vote!
The Cottages and Bungalows Curb Appeal contest is still ongoing and it is pretty close between another instagrammer and I.
If you haven’t voted yet, would you please vote for me? It would be amazing to get a feature in a future issue of their magazine!

It was a fun week on the blog!
We made a great summer salad that is light, refreshing and made a great side dish for this month’s supper club theme!
You can get the recipe HERE.
What I love most about this one, is I grow all of these vegetables in my garden so it’s an easy one to make all summer long.
Speaking of supper club, did you see this month’s theme? Cause it is a fun one!
We are celebrating the tastes of summer with a low country boil dinner party.
Have you been to a seafood boil before?

Amazing Inspiration from Around the Web
I love finding cool inspiration from around the web and wanted to share some of what I’m loving right now.
I love love love Karianne’s vintage find from Thistlewood Farms. Whenever I go thrifting, I’m always looking for ones similar to what she found because I love the look.
I can usually find things like similar at flea markets and thrift stores in New England but not so much in New Jersey.
And that’s not to say you can find similar things here, but they will cost a lot more here than up in New England.
My good friend Renae from Peacock Ridge Farms shared an AMAZING before and after bedroom for her grandkids in the One Room Challenge.
Have you see it yet? GAH!!!!
I am taking notes because this one turned out gorgeous.
My good friend Jennifer from Cottage on Bunker Hill shared how she made the prettiest sea glass beaded rope garland.
Seriously, Jennifer makes the prettiest things for your home! If you are not following her, run to her blog and subscribe to her newsletter because she really has some beautiful DIYs.
My good friend Rachel from the Ponds Farmhouse shared how she made her adorable tablecloth for our low country boil dinner party.
Isn’t this darling?
So easy to do too!
Rachel is another inspiring blogger who makes beautiful and easy DIYs that you’ll want to subscribe to if you aren’t already!
