Random Things Happening Behind the Scenes at Bricks ‘n Blooms

What a week it was!

The weather does not know what it’s doing here in New Jersey!

First, it was super cold.

Then it warmed up where I could be outside without a coat on.

And now…it’s freezing again!

We decided to spend the weekend in Vermont too.

Where it’s even colder.

Can you say -7 and with the wind chill, feels more like -25?

Mackenzie and Shana both went back to school for their spring semesters.

So I’m a sad mama bird.

And this is Mackenzie’s last semester at Bucknell.

It’s amazing how fast time flies.

I started this blog the semester she started in college.

It feels like just yesterday we were dropping her off for that first year.

And so much has happened since then!

College Move-In Day

If you recall last week, I mentioned that we are going to start working on the dining room.

I’m hoping to start painting the ceiling this week or next weekend.

After peeling back some of the padded fabric last weekend, the walls are going to be a bigger project.

That padded fabric is secured by a ton of staples and the walls are not in great shape behind it.

Ultimately, we’ll probably add beadboard in this room instead of trying to make all kinds of wall repairs, but for now, we’ll remove the padded fabric, paint it white and then figure out what we want to do long-term.

The room is so dark.

At this point, I’ll do whatever it takes to lighten it up in a short amount of time and then do the larger projects down the road.

Even though we are in the throws of winter here in New Jersey, the gardens look so pretty.

I’ve been planning for the next growing season and shared my first garden tour with what to expect in 2022.
