Random Things Happening Behind the Scenes at Bricks ‘n Blooms
I’m slowing things down a little this week.
For starters, it was really hot here.
So my focus was on keeping plants cool and hydrated so they were in good shape before we left for vacation.
And second, it’s a holiday week!

We have been in Vermont enjoying some family time, hiking, boating, and thrifting.
It rained a little while we were here, but we still did lots of fun stuff.

It’s nice just to get away for a few days.
And even nicer knowing the weather back home is wet and cool so my plants are taken care of.

What’s Happening at Bricks ‘n Blooms
It was a fun week on the blog!

With all the time we are spending outdoors, do mosquitos and other biting insects bother you too?
There is a list of plants that help repel mosquitos.
And several of them do double duty in the kitchen.

Get the list HERE and see how I planted a mosquito repellent container garden.
With the spring to summer transition in the garden, flowers start to fade and die out.

But did you know that deadheading flowers help plants focus their energy on making more flowers instead of producing seeds?
Yes!
HERE is everything you need to know about deadheading flowers to keep your garden happy and blooming.

And did you see my first cut flower arrangement from the cutting garden?
These are all the flowers that I started from seed indoors this winter in my basement!

Click on the video below for a closeup of the blooms.
Aren’t they gorgeous???
