Hi there!

I hope you had an amazing week!

It’s been a week here in New Jersey. We went from cooler spring temperatures back up to near 100 degrees. It was hot, sticky, and gross out so planting was not happening for a few days and it was more about keeping my plants and seedlings alive in the heat!

We are still getting my drip irrigation set up, so I’ve been out there manually watering everything which I am sure you can imagine…is alot of work.

But the seedlings are doing well and starting to take off. I got all of my dahlias planted – I think I’m growing 20 different varieties this year? I’ll have to check.

My kitchen garden is producing so much right now! I love being able to harvest spinach, lettuce, kale, and now…carrots! Yay!

A lush garden bed with green leafy vegetables and purple flowers sits beside a wooden deck. Potted flowers and decorative metal structures are visible in the background near a green trellis.

The clematis is GORGEOUS here right now. I really love ‘Josephine Regal ‘alot and want to get another to plant in the pool garden and train it up a vintage lamp post. My peonies are just starting to flower and the roses have buds all over them. Hopefully after this weekend’s rain, I’ll see a huge flush of flowers.

And the bearded irises are blooming. I planted several varieties like 2 years ago, and they are finally starting to establish and flower. Here are a few I’m loving right now.

Vibrant blue and deep purple irises bloom beside orange irises in a garden with lush green grass and trees, and a house visible in the background.

Last weekend, Chris and I went to pick up a bird bath for one of the front yard gardens and wound up coming home with two pagoda statues for the zen garden as well. When you find something you love…it’s best to grab it or you might not find it again. Am I right?

I hosted our book club the other night. It was a smaller group because we were heading into the holiday weekend, but I think we covered everything about The Tenant (which was a GREAT read by the way!) and then some.

My girls came home this weekend to celebrate my niece’s bridal shower at the Gladstone Tavern which is always a fun place to go. We had such a great time and I loved having everyone home for the weekend.

We finally got our pool heater up and running, so hot tub time is back in session here and we could not be happier.

We are heading into the best season of the year if you have any interest in preserving flowers from your garden. This is the flower press kit that I have.

My collapsible bin has been getting a ton of use lately after pulling all those pansies that did not survive the near 100 degree heat wave we just had.

I stocked up on some organic veggie fertilizer – it’s that time again!

And I also fertilized my roses for the second time this year with this organic rose fertilizer

I’m potting up the last of my annuals this week and needed to get more potting soil.

We are still fixing some bare patches in my lawn. This is the seed I am using.

Earlier this week I shared why heuchera sometimes struggles after the first year and what you can do to help it thrive long term in the garden.

I also wrote about how I manage Japanese beetles and grubs naturally, along with a few organic pest control methods I use to keep my flower gardens healthier throughout the growing season.

And over on YouTube, I shared why I never plant zinnias alone if I want a fuller garden with longer-lasting blooms, plus a look at what survived in my garden after an early stretch of 90-degree weather followed by a hard freeze.

Thank you so much for following along.

Enjoy a beautiful day! xo
