In the Garden

I spent the first half of the week planning my garden and deciding what annuals will be tucked in throughout the beds. It’s so fun to shop this time of year while there is so much snow on the ground!

My gardens are buried under at least two feet of snow right now. What a storm we had last weekend! Thankfully, we didn’t lose power. The only drawback was the amount of time we went outside to shovel out.

Oh and the front pond froze over so badly right before we flew out to Florida that I wasn’t sure if it would be OK while we traveled as it has been like zero degrees all week! I spent about three hours heating up our electric kettle to walk through 2 feet of snow so I could slowly unfreeze the waterfall. It lost about a foot of water so it looked pretty dramatic as I’ve not seen it get this low ever.

The big concern is it would lose so much water that the pipes would freeze. Our pond crew, Atlantis Water Gardens, came out on Friday, inspected everything, and I think we’ll be ok overall but only time will tell.

A Long Weekend in Florida

Remember that wedding I was telling you about last week? Well, it was this weekend! My nephew (he’s the first of the bunch) got married in Naples so our whole family traveled to celebrate. And what a great wedding it was! The venue was amazing, the food was incredible, the bride looked gorgeous, and it was nice to warm up with family for a few days.

Lots of memories were made.

We are traveling back to New Jersey today, so hopefully we’ll make it back without any delays or cancellations. Wish us luck!

Things I’m Shopping For This Week!

It’s seed starting season and I am stocking up on the essentials, plus some other odds and ends. Here’s what I’m shopping for this week.

  • Before we left for our trip, we realized our powder room toilet was having issues, so I think it’s time to renovate that bathroom. I am looking at this vintage sink and toilet as options for the upgrade.
  • I’m looking for vintage prints that would look pretty above our bed – these won’t work but they have lots of charm for small wall space.
  • I love this wall decor too…it’s like they did the work for you.
  • While I was clicking around, I found this pretty table lamp that would add lots of charm and texture to any space.
  • Cozy lounge wear alert on sale! I bought these pants and sweatshirts in a few colors – they are so pretty and look incredibly comfortable.
