What a week it was!

Garden Updates

Baby it’s cold outside but gardening season is still in full force for me! I potted up all of my amaryllis bulbs. And this year, I’m growing 7 different varieties! I cannot wait to see these flower after the holidays.

I also got all of my paperwhites planted. Have you grown them before? This year, I created a few different looks with them that I’ll be sharing on the blog later this week.

AND I spent all day Tuesday getting my porch planters gussied up for the holidays and I love how they turned out! I snagged some fresh greenery and supplies at The Farm at Green Village and created a whole new look.

When I was shopping, I was inspired to use red twig dogwood and these gold corkscrew branches for the thriller and it looks so pretty and festive!

A wooden sideboard with ornate details sits against a staircase, adorned with festive decor including a floral painting, triangular Christmas trees, and a small evergreen. Garland is draped on the banister, adding to the cozy, holiday atmosphere.

New Plant Babies Added to My Collection

In super exciting news, I added some interesting indoor plants to my evergrowing collection. I told you I’ve become obsessed. You should see daily checking on them. I love it!

In this week’s online order from Canopy Plant Co (not sponsored – I just like them), I snagged the following plants and I’m totally giddy about it!

  • Alocasia Frydek
  • Alocasia Jaclyn
  • Hoya Compacta Rope (one of the coolest easy-care plants that blooms!)
  • Philodendron White Wizard
  • Calathea Helen Kennedy
  • Calathia White Fusion
  • Philodendron Gloriosum
  • Aglaeonema Tricolor (the camo foliage is what drew me in!)
  • Philodendron Ring of Fire
  • Aeschynanthus Rasta Curly Lipstick
  • Sansevieria Cleopatra

Each plant is incredibly unique and I’m really impressed with the quality of plants. I might have gone a little overboard but I’m really enjoying the time I’m spending with my plants indoors these days.

Of course, I like to buy my plants from local nurseries so I can look at the plants before buying, but I found a few plants I really wanted that I know they didn’t have and wound up buying a few extra. hahaha

But What About Your Flower Gardens?

And you might be thinking how are you going to care of all of these AND your flower gardens during the growing season and let me just say. It will be easy!

No I’m not giving up my flower gardens – they are my first priority! And I’m going to be adding more.

All of these indoor plants will join me outdoors in the New Jersey heat and humidity on the porches and under some tree canopies in the backyard garden. I’ve actually found houseplants super easy and low maintenance outside during the warmer months so aside from manual watering them, they do really well in my climate.

The only challenge for me this year, will be the hanging plants I’ve accumulated. I will have to keep an eye on them as I prefer to manually water them versus putting them on a drip.

Last year, my indoor plants thrived so much and tripled in size so I’m really excited to see how these all do! They are in 4″ pots right now with minimal foliage. I’m looking forward to watching them grow and mature.

Vegas Getaway

I am leaving for a quick trip to Vegas today with Chris for some R&R. He’s going for a conference but I’ll be hanging out, heading to the spa (I’m not much of a gambler), and have some fun. Stay tuned for some fun travel stories and photos on Instagram.

Christmas Decorating…Check!

I’m just about done decorating for the holidays indoors. Still doing some tweaks here and there, but overall I’m feeling accomplished considering I waited to start until AFTER Thanksgiving this year.
