What a week it was!

Behind the Scenes

With cooler temperatures, I hit the ground running in the gardens, getting some weeding and clean-up done. We finally got some rain here so I was not out in the gardens as much as I would have liked but still managed to get a bunch of things accomplished.

And to be honest, it was kind of nice having a little break! It’s been several weeks – maybe 2 months – where we have not had a good rain to really soak the gardens. The rain also inspired me to take a step back and enjoy the views from my porches.

I just placed an order for about 100 perennials from Proven Winners that are expected to arrive the week of October 7, so I’ve got my work cut out for me soon. They will be tucked in the front yard gardens where I am rehabbing a few spaces.

A close-up of various dried flowers, including pink and yellow blooms, hanging upside down from a wooden branch. Green stems and a light background are visible, giving a rustic and natural aesthetic to the scene.

Oh and I also ordered hundreds of spring flowering bulbs. I’m a little late to the party, but hey, I got it done and placed an order from White Flower Farm for the blooms that I want to grow next year.

Because the first frost is pretty imminent, I cut a bunch more flowers for air-drying in the she shed. And let me tell you – that space is filling up and smells unbelievable with the herbs I am drying in there too.

Today is Chris’ birthday, so we were in Vermont for a few days. We were supposed to wrap up the boat last weekend, but got a little sidetracked sealing up some new mouseholes we found at the cabin. So, we came up to get one last ride on the boat and drop it off at the marina for winter storage.

The foliage is beyond spectacular in Vermont right now!

Since I’ve decided to rebrand my front entry hall, I spent some time shopping for a new area rug. I really want to get more color in there but want to keep to sage green as that is more my accent color around the house. These are my top contenders – which would you choose? Tell me in the comments below I’m having a tough time deciding!

I also bought a new bookshelf for my sunroom so I could fit more plants in that space! It arrived on Friday and Chris just put it together for me. I’ll share pics of it when I get my plants back indoors.
