We have wanted to renovate our kitchen the last few years but the budget just was not there. Little by little, we made small upgrades with appliances, but really needed to update the look, the cabinets and the countertops.

Before the Kitchen Renovation
Because we knew purchasing new cabinets was well outside of our budget, I started kicking around the idea of painting them. Seemed very scary to do that, so I poured over Pinterest articles and blog posts on how best to do it and ultimately decided to chalk paint them. To learn how to chalk paint cabinets, see How to Paint Wood Cabinets with Chalk Paint.
To build my confidence to refinish the cabinets with chalk paint, I started refinishing everything I could get my hands on so I could get a feel for working with it. When I built up enough confidence to actually do it, I started looking through Pinterest and Instagram for design inspiration. After months of research, we settled on a design, pulled the trigger and started the process.
After the Kitchen Renovation
From start to finish, the whole process took three weeks. I know right? Three weeks! And the total cost of the renovation for paint, supplies and granite countertops was under $6500! #winning
There are still some updates I want to do (ie. lighting, etc.) but here are photos that were taken right after I finished:
I hope you find this post inspiring and helps you build the confidence to do something similar in your own home.
