Keeping Hydrangea Flowers Fresh in a Vase

Are your fresh cut hydrangea flowers wilting in a vase? Whether you  cut them from the garden or bought them from the market, keep hydrangeas  from drooping with these simple tips.

If you are cutting flowers from your garden, clean pruning shears before making any cuts with 1 part bleach to 10 parts water.

Tip: it’s best to cut hydrangeas in the early am while the weather is cool. And always make the cuts on a 45 degree angle.

Immediately drop fresh cuts into a container of fresh water.

After the initial cuts are made, boil water.

Have the second container of room-temperature water ready to hold the arrangement.

Cut hydrangea stems again on an angle to the desired length of the arrangement.

Stand hydrangea stems in hot water for 30 seconds. Then, immediately drop into room temperature water and arrange flowers accordingly.
