Choose a location for your garden that is in full sun. Most flowers grown for cutting need at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight.

While you can find some flowers for cutting at the nursery, you'll find so many more beautiful varieties when you start plants from seed.

Get a jump on the season by starting seeds indoors, winter sowing or direct sowing them in your garden.

If you started seeds indoors, you'll need to harden them off before planting outdoors. This is generally a two week acclimation process that is necessary for seedlings to survive outside.

Plant your garden by sowing seeds, planting seedlings or with plants you purchased from the garden nursery.

Support flowers that grow very tall or have heavy blooms so they don't topple over from harsh winds and other extreme weather.
