Gardening Tips & Tricks

Not sure whether to plant perennials or annuals in your fall garden? Learn what makes them different to make an informed decision. Here's what to know.

Perennials are plants that live for more than two years.

Annuals are plants that are not cold tolerant and live an entire lifecyle from seed to flower in one growing season. All roots, stems, and leaves of the plant die annually.

It's important to know your hardy zone so you know whether or not a plant is hardy to your zone. If it's not hardy to your zone, it's considered an annual.

While perennials tend to cost more than annuals, you can score a deal on them at the end of the season!

Annuals typically have a longer bloom time than perennials. And they make great seasonal decor.

If you are just starting out or want to experiment with plants, go with annuals because there is less of a committment.
